Artist Statement: Purple Bougie
Purple Bougie captures the vibrant beauty of bougainvillea’s rich purple petals set against the dark, lush greenery of its leaves. The boldness of the flowers contrasts powerfully with the intense background, creating an explosive, dynamic energy that reflects the tropical tree’s strength.
In this pastel work, I aimed to convey the raw vitality of the bougainvillea, emphasizing both the boldness of its petals and the underlying strength of the tree. The composition celebrates the exuberant colors and vitality of the tropics, inviting the viewer to experience the vibrancy and vitality of nature’s beauty.
