Euro Beech Monoprint #2 captures the warmth and energy of a rising sun, where the enduring strength of a mature bonsai emerges against a vibrant, atmospheric landscape. The composition celebrates the relationship between nature, time, and the expressive possibilities of traditional Japanese-inspired printmaking.

The bold, graphic structure of the Euro Beech woodblock establishes a commanding presence. Its broad, carefully developed foliage pads and powerful trunk rise from an expansive moss-covered base, conveying the stability and resilience of a tree shaped by many years of cultivation.

The background, created through a Gelli plate monoprinting process, radiates with the colors of sunrise. Saturated reds and fiery oranges gradually transition into soft golden yellows before settling into cool turquoise and green. This progression of color suggests the awakening of a new day while providing a dramatic contrast to the dark silhouette of the tree.

Additional acrylic overpainting brings the foliage forward, creating a dynamic relationship between the woodblock’s strong graphic marks and the luminous background. The complementary colors intensify the composition without overwhelming the natural beauty of the bonsai.
