Description
The Golden Pavilion in Kyoto Japan formally know as Kinkaku-ji is awe-inspiring. The Golden temple emerges above a mirror pond with floating islands representing the archipelago of Japan’s Islands. There is an almost unworldly feeling to the combination of sights as well as new discoveries as one strolls through the paths. This etching attempts to give you a meditative feeling of both in this world and outside of it.
To make an etching print you cover the plate with ink then remove the surface ink leaving the ink in the etched area; i.e. intaglio process. This allows the artist to create detail lines, various textures and a look of age to the resulting print. This print is one of currently series of prints of the Japan Garden aesthetics with the hope of inspiring those that have seen it as well and encourage other to see in in person.
