I am thrilled to present my latest creation, “Stone Steps.” This piece was born out of my deep inspiration by the magnificent Kenroku-en Garden of Japan. As an artist, I was captivated by the significance of these stone steps, which served as the foundation for ancient temples in Japan.
With “Stone Steps,” I wanted to transport you to a world of contemplation, where you can escape the hustle and bustle of modern life. The irregular movement of the stone is not accidental; it is designed to slow you down and draw you into the garden’s mystical aura. I poured my heart and soul into this etching to evoke a sense of discovery and thoughtful reflection in your soul.
When you gaze at “Stone Steps,” I hope you will feel the same sense of awe and wonder that I felt when I first laid eyes on the Kenroku-en Garden. My goal was to transport you to a different world and leave you feeling transformed. So, take a deep breath, step onto the stone, and let yourself be whisked away on a journey of discovery and thought.
This is an unique one of a kind hand painted ‘Monoprint’. During the etching process explained below, some of the prints are selected out the be monoprints. You are assured to get a unique work of art.
To create this print, I covered the plate with ink and then removed the surface ink, leaving the ink in the etched areas, using the intaglio process. This technique allowed me to create intricate lines, unique textures, and an aged look that added depth and character to the final print.
Currently, I have ten different prints of trees, each with its own unique story to tell. My hope is that when people see these prints, they can feel the spirit of the tree and the joy that Bonsai brings to life, as it truly is a living art.
