I painted this one with a couple of friends from the Southern California Pleinair Painters Association (SocalPapa) at Dana Point California. The tide was coming in and there was this rush of water maneuvering around this large rock. In addition, I loved the distant cliff and the sunset interacting with the whole scene. The intention was to bring together all these dynamics into one cohesive painting.
I make my oil paintings are from professional grade oil paints. I allow the brilliance of the colors to enhance the view and emotion of the work. The goal is to express the Southern California light and the feeling of the day in which I painted it.
