Description
This drawing comes from a pleinair made at the Santiago Oak Park here in Orange County. I was struck by the layering of foliage and mystery of the deep vista. I wasn’t happy with the pleinair painting but love the drawing that came from that experience. The energy that permeate nature and the connection of our human experience in this environment drove the motif, the outcome is extreme gratifying.
Charcoal drawing consist of vine, compressed and pencil charcoal materials. The image is created by adding and removing the charcoal until the image is draw to my standards. The result is a dramatic scene contrasted by the black charcoal and white of the paper. My hope is that the tactility of the original markmaking and luster of the charcoal creates an exciting effect for the purchaser of these drawing.
